So this holiday has been spent by planning meet ups with friends, cousins and old buddies. Actions that time did not readily make available for during the school semester.
There was the Junior College Reunion, a Cousin’s outing, the Bali Trip, a friend’s Surprise Birthday Party, the Library Gang day-out at Sentosa and not to forget the dreaded wait for an ultimately reasonable exams results. Of course interspersed with meet ups wif e JJ bros and hot babe.
The cousin’s outing was an attempt at trying to achieve a semblance on how it was like perhaps a decade ago, where we cousins, would spend chunks of every weekend at Nenek Hawa’s house, playing soccer, or just hanging out and even go for overseas trips together as one big extended family before the conundrum of young adults/adult life began to bite away at the amount of free time to play with. It was a nostalgic throwback to the times of yore, to at least maintain a credible level of relationship even as we get glued to our lives and for some, their budding careers.
The same goes for the junior college counterparts, most of who are working already, with me the only one still studying. Was interesting to hear some of the old classmates of mine mention that they heard I was a high flier. I smiled and laughed. High flier in what?? My university grades aren’t anything fantastic. Then she said, your outside activities, even Anthony, the Chinese classmate thought so. I thought in my mind, in a system where the paper chase holds sway, the definition of a high flier, was one that meant that the 1st class honours student, being earmarked for a high governmental position, who studied his whole life away, to get that huge future pay check. For me, I’m just proud and thankful that, after all the involvement in Silat, Dikir and PBMUKS in my 1st 3 years of NUS, I was still able to make it to Honours Year, learning stuffs that studying alone could not dream of offering. And I could already see the difference it makes in honours year, honestly. These life experiences would prove invaluable during the journey of career building and I thank God for guiding me to the choices that I have made.
That bond of PBM Jawatankuasa 06/07 has been continued too and its potency was shown during the concerted preparations for a Birthday Surprise. The friendships forged stayed and most probably would remain for a long time to come. For the birthday gal, I think she needed that extra push and knowledge that her friends are there for her, and personally it was something I readily and had early on agreed to go to, simply because of having, as a committee, each other’s back during that 1 year tenure. And most probably it was the same for those who were involved in that birthday suprise.
The Bali trip was a wonderful respite, and the place itself was stunningly beautiful at certain places, namely the temples which took up acres of land on end. Truly breathtaking, And imagine this, the original DVDs there went for S$2.50 each man. So freaking cheap!!! Without a doubt, one of the better holiday destinations that I’ve been too in the last few years. Had a massage and for the first time a facial too.
And of course there was the Library Gang Outing at Sentosa, a whole day of sun, sand and sea. Being rough tackled by Wan countless of times, beaten up by Maly’s chubby younger brother a couple of time, planning for charades and many more. It was also A mini sending off for Fazli who will be leaving for 1 year to Sweden in early Jan and to Malyanah who would be leaving for half a year to New Zealand in early February.
At a glance too, the perennial JJC Bros and outings with hot and wonderful baby dearest and finally, long awaited meet ups with Siti Hajar and Suhaila. The only one that’s left now is Male slave driver Zat, who I’ve been told, has stopped blogging. Bummer… hahahaha… That said. Below is a photo montage of photos from the various events ya.
To one and all happy new year.
May the friendship that has been forged and tirelessly maintained endure the test of time. Syukran…
