Think its a superb drama series.
It’s been a while.
I’m still finding my footing in the rush and excesses of this honours year. It is a giant leap, but it isnt too bad, the experience of 6 modules for the last 2 sems coupled with the high responsibility in running PBMUKS and DKNUS has prepared me well.
The honours room has become a welcoming retreat for winding down after draining lectures. A playstation, cushy seats, stacks of books welcome would be ‘lepakers’. I’m settling well enough, honours year naturally encourages you to be closer to your cohort mates, who so far seems a good, fun bunch.
Am looking forward to a trip during the study break too. A trip to the battle site of Dien Bien Phu at Vietnam. I think it would be a wonderful experience.
Ramadhan is coming too. Accordingly, there is this Grant A Wish drive by the Community Service Club to which I find its concept refreshingly interesting. I passed by the booth last week, and almost walked away thinking that it was another charity drive that seeks cash donations. However, one of the publicists mentioned Mendaki, and naturally that caught my intention. Turns out this drive is in collaboration with Mendaki and CDAC, where low income kids write their wishes (what they want) on a piece of paper and would be philantrophists try at their behest to realise that. Interesting indeed. I looked at the various wishes on show and decided on one, to which I would be giving the gift between 10th and 12th September. Then they gave me a file as part of their way of saying thanks. I was suprised to see what was inside. It was various vouchers for Times Bookshop, Minds Cafe, Kimage Studios and Nanyang Opticals. Theres so much perks that I was amazed. Firstly, by the marketing success and on how professional the whole set up looks. Theres even a party for a meet up with the kids and the various organisations involved. The crux of the matter however is that now, it is a time of deeds, Ramadan is coming. A time where all deeds will be equated manifold.
And to my friends, I feel anger for your situation, its brutally unfair, utterly ridiculous. I do not agree with whatever that is happening, and part of me feels like telling the guilty ones off. In retrospect though, it is perhaps the first salvo and test preluding to the start of Ramadhan. While I do not agree with the elaborate, flowery rhethoric and Kamie-like quality (or shall i say dis-quality) of love inscribed on your blog, I do not agree with the profiling and draconian measures more. All I can offer is a smile, and Id try to make it as comforting as possible whenever I see you (insya allah). Senyuman adalah sedekah dan bagi bulan yang berbarakah ini I wish the both of you well. It is a test, and I personally feel all is not lost. Let God decide. He would know best. Insya allah.
